What is the brain?

The brain is the center of the nervous system (which regulates a person’s perception of the world and what goes on in his or her body). It is a jello-like substance located in the head, protected by the skull. It is extremely complex, containing about 100 billion neurons (cells that process and transmit information by electrochemical signaling).
